  • Online Course and Teaching Evaluation for MMAT5390 Term 2, 2021-22

    The Course and Teaching Evaluation exercise for the 2nd term of 2021-22 will continue to be conducted in online mode. Please note that the invitation email contains a unique survey link has been sent to student’s email address (studentID@link.cuhk.edu.hk) on 6 April 2022 from the sender of OCTE and with the subject line read as “Online CTE Questionnaire for MMAT5390: Mathematical Image Processing (Professor LUI Lok Ming)”. By clicking the link in an email, students would be able to access the survey site and to complete the surveys without the need of providing the passwords.

  • The final examination will be held on April 26 (Tuesday) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The examination will be held online on ZOOM with inviligilation (same as the midterm examination).

  • Important information about the midterm examination
     
    Midterm examination will be conducted online on March 22 (Tuesday) during the lecture hours (6:30pm-8:30pm). Details are as follows:
     
    1. The midterm examination covers materials from Class Note 1 to Class Note 8.
    2. The questions in the midterm examination are similar to the homework questions and exercises after each chapter of the lecture notes. Please review the questions.
    3. The examination will be conducted with invigilation during the lecture hours from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on March 22 (Tuesday). You MUST log into zoom (same as the lecture link: https://cuhk.zoom.us/j/94035749045 ) and turn on your webcam. You MUST show your face during the examination.
    4. The examination question will be uploaded to the class website: https://www.math.cuhk.edu.hk/course/2122/mmat5390 at 6:28pm. Write your solution on A4 blank papers or on your IPad (or similar) device.
    5. After the examination, please take photos of or scan your solution. You can use a virtual scanner with some apps (such as: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/camscanner-pdf-scanner-app/id388627783 ). Upload your solution to Blackboard (same procedure as you upload your HWs). You will have 20 minutes to do so.
    6. If you face any difficulties when uploading your solution, you MUST send me an email (lmlui@math.cuhk.edu.hk) immediately attaching your solution. You MUST inform me immediately about the technical problems during the 20-minute uploading period. Late submission will result in mark deduction.
    7. Discussions amongst classmates ARE PROHIBITED.
    8. The examination allows OPEN Note.

Course Description

This course gives an introduction on mathematical models and techniques for various image processing tasks. Our focus will be on the mathematical aspects of different imaging problems. A wide array of topics will be covered, including image restoration (denoising, deblurring), image segmentation, image compression, image registration, multi-scale image analysis and so on.
