Abstract:
I will describe some recent joint work with Çağrı Sert on projections of self-affine sets which are exceptional in the sense of Marstrand's theorem. In particular I will sketch the construction of equilibrium measures on the projected images, and give an algebraic characterisation of when exceptional projections exist for self-affine sets with typical translations.
