Abstract:

We consider the inverse problem of reconstructing inhomogeneities from scattered field measurements by employing the direct sampling method. The direct sampling method is well known for providing efficient numerical schemes for imaging inhomogeneities from multistatic measurements, even with just one or two incident fields. We introduce modifications to the direct sampling method to extend its applicability to monostatic and bistatic configurations. In particular, we develop and analyze indicator functions based on the asymptotic formulas for the scattered field resulting from inhomogeneities in limited-aperture settings. This talk is based on results obtained in collaboration with Sangwoo Kang and Won-Kwang Park.
