This page is for students who are admitted into the CUHK via the HKDSE or the Gaokao, and who belong to neither the Enrichment Mathematics Programme nor the MIEG programme.

Application period:

  • First batch: from 2024-08-12 08:30 to 2024-08-22 17:00.
  • Second batch: from 2024-09-09 09:00 to 2024-09-20 12:00, during opening hours of the General Office of the Department of Mathematics.

Introductory note

MATH1018 and MATH1038 are intended for MATH students. Enrichment entrants are automatically registered to the classes. If you are a Broadbase Science entrant and have decided to declare for MATH, you are encouraged to register for these two courses simultaneously because:

  1. The treatment in these courses will be adapted to your future needs in the MATH programme.
  2. This will align yourself to the recommended study pattern in the MATH programme, and pave the way to further Honours courses in the MATH programme.

Advice

MATH1018, MATH1038 (and other Honours courses) are NOT automatic substitutions for MATH1010, MATH1030 (and other non-Honours courses) for the graduation requirements of non-MATH programmes.

  • If you have not decided to declare for MATH, you are advised to NOT take MATH1018, MATH1038 (and other Honours courses). You can graduate in MATH without taking the Honours courses.
  • If you plan to graduate in a non-MATH programme, check with the respective programme to see whether these courses count in that programme, before making your decision here.
