Course Description

This course aims at providing students with an overview of mathematics, in all its various manifestations and from antiquity to the present. We will put focus on (i) history, (ii) philosophical origin and development of ideas, as well as (iii) the influence of mathematics on culture.

Students will be given various articles to read, to comment on, and to think about. It will be non-technical, but still needs active "thinking" from the part of the participants.
