Taught Programme

Aims and Background

This programme teaches advanced mathematics beyond undergraduate level, furthering students' career development and preparation for postgraduate studies in mathematics.

Established in 1994-95, our MSc programme chiefly aims at students who intend to strengthen their mathematical background to their further studies and careers. At the same time, many high school teachers, and business and industry professionals, who have the need for advanced mathematical training, find our programme of interest and end up earning an MSc in Mathematics as a secondary degree.

From 2018-19 onwards, we offer a new stream Big Data Analytics and Computation under the MSc Programme in Mathematics. The aim of this stream is to provide students with highly skilled professional training and useful computational methods to analyze big data and computational modeling. In particular, this stream is designed for those who want to pursue a career as data and computational scientists.
