I obtained my B.Sc. degree in Mathematics (1982, New Asia College) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Certificate of Education (distinction) from the University of Hong Kong. Then I received my Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of California, San Diego, under the supervision of Michael Freedman (Fields Medalist 1986) with specialization in low-dimensional topology. My current research interest is in geometry and topology. In recent years, I have been putting in time and effort on student development and mathematics outreach to society.
