In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to the Graduate School, applicants should have majored in Mathematics or related fields. Applicants may be required to attend an interview. Graduate Record Examination in Mathematics may also be required in some cases.
The MSc programme has been further strengthened recently. Among the new courses being added, there are two courses on Logistics and Operations Research. Old courses have also been redesigned with more individual attention components. More courses are offered specially for the MSc students to take care of their needs. For instance, Algebra and Geometry emphasizes the fascinating intertwining relationships, "Guided Studies I" bridges individual students background to the desired level while "Guided Studies II" helps bring the students to research topics of their choice. Flexible time-table arrangements (such as Saturday and evening classes) suit part-time students from the teaching profession and commerce-industry alike.
Students are required to complete 24 units, with at least 18 units (6 courses) in Mathematics coded MAT5xxx-6xxx. The remaining courses may be from MAT3xxx-4xxx.
At least 1 full academic year of study for a full-time student and at least 2 full academic years of study for a part-time student are required.
Student shall have obtained cumulative grade point average of not lower than 2.0 (i.e. average 'C' grade or above).
